On Friday 6th February FIE referee Chiara McDermot will deliver the British Fencing Level 1&2 refereeing course during our normal Friday session.

Our aim is to deliver an accessible and interesting course which brings everyone up to date with modern fencing rules and how to preside a bout.

The course will include:

• Basic competition rules
• Material rules & technical rules
• Penalties
• Arm gestures
• Safeguarding
• Competition formats
• Foil-specific technical rules, material rules and penalties

It’s also a great opportunity to ask questions to someone who referees at the highest level.

The course concludes with an optional exam, completed on your own smart device (phone/tablet) via google forms. The course is being funded by OFC and therefore free to members but there may be a small admin fee for the exam as you will receive a BF refereeing qualification. TBC.

Please note the start time is 7.30 sharp, as it’s a two hour course.
