About Us

Oxford Fencing Club is a friendly club with a wide range of ages (from 8 upwards) and abilities (beginner to veterans international). We are affiliated to the British Fencing Association. Fencers from other clubs who have current full membership of the BFA are very welcome as occasional visitors.

The club meets in the sports centre of Rye St Antony School, Franklin Road, Headington, Oxford: see location.

The club fences twice weekly: Tuesday 8:00pm–10:00pm and Friday 7:15pm–9:45pm.

Coaches

Martin Carter is a level 2 foil coach. He coaches each Friday, our Tuesday beginner courses and runs our advanced footwork sessions.

Oxford Fencing Club Coach - James

James Kingston is an experienced three-weapon coach (level 3 in Foil, Epee and Sabre). He runs our Friday club sessions, giving individual and group lessons, and teaching our beginners courses.

Herman Du Preez is an experienced three-weapon coach (Hungarian Diploma). He coaches at our Tuesday club sessions, giving individual lessons with a bias to developing fencers.
