As in previous years, our summer training sessions will move to Radley College sports centre from Tuesday 5th July. Please note that there will only be Tuesday sessions from 8pm to 10pm, no Fridays. The final session at Radley will be Tuesday 23rd August, and we return to regular Tuesday and Friday sessions at Rye St. Antony in Headington from Tuesday 30th August.
If you don’t own your own kit, please arrange to take away a jacket, mask and plastron for the summer since we will only take electric boxes and weapons to Radley.
Our club master at arms for 2016 is Sion Carpenter.
The club foil competition has been rescheduled to Friday 24th June. Continue reading
Chairman’s report 2011
It was about 1977, some eighteen months after retiring from competitive fencing, that I discovered Oxford Polytechnic Fencing Club in a school off the Cowley Road. It was a small and friendly group focussed mainly on rather classical non-electric foil. Almost at once I agreed to be treasurer, and in every subsequent year I have held one of the club’s offices, often all simultaneously. Since 1977 the club has moved site several times and has had more than one change of name, the least snappy being Oxford City and Polytechnic Fencing Club. It has had both healthy and lean times, and once came very close to extinction.
