On 17th June, we hosted the Flying Friendship Cup at Rye St. Antony.
This competition, which has been running for 58 years, was originally between 4 Airline fencing clubs plus Paris Airports Authority club on a five year round but has morphed into a three-year round of friendly events spread between several invited clubs from Belgium, France and UK. This year is Britain’s turn to host and Oxford was chosen.
We welcomed about 80 fencers from the various clubs to compete in all three weapons. The events were split into mens and ladies foil, mixed epee and mixed sabre.
Congratulations to Nicole Holzman who came second in the ladies foil, Anne Tester who was third in the ladies epee, and Alex Perras who was third in mens foil.
